Free at last – free at last!

Internet phone number:

Wow, what a journey it’s been ! But finally, we are up at the Vagabond Hotel at SFO airport. Fitting name for the next phase of life, isn’t it? It feels very odd to be without a car and living out of a suitcase – a small one at that! The last time I did this was when I was twenty years old and traveled around the world for two years. We fly to Panama tomorrow night.

The move went off without a hitch although it was pretty stressful. A triple international move is complicated. I hope to only handle all of the logistics once. As some new friends who moved to Panama 7 years ago mentioned, this packing phase is about pizza, champagne, and aspirin. Well, in our case it was about espresso, the chiropractor, and take home food. That espresso machine was the last thing to get packed.

Leaving our extraordinary sanctuary was hard – really hard. Our wonderful neighbors, Chryl and Matt gave us a beautiful and tasty going away dinner. Don, our once in a lifetime great landlord drove three hours to get to the party and we ate out on the deck, a last chance to get to appreciate each other and the beauty of that unique property at dusk. We had toasts. We had laughs. We felt honored. And we felt so appreciated. Then Amy, another neighbor came over to give us our hair cuts as a goodbye gift. Finally, on the last day we went into Los Gatos to have breakfast at our favorite place and got back, only to find Maryce, another neighbor raking our yard, helping me to pack our suitcases, and then cook us a very special dinner. What remarkable neighbors and landlord we had. We appreciate each and every one of you. We will miss all of you.

Then Don, our Landlord offered his RV for the two nights before we went to visit our families. That was very special for us and enabled us to go back to our deck and greet the sunrise for one last time. It’s been five years in heaven!

Doors, special doors, are opening up for us in Panama. We can’t talk about it just yet but will let you know when things are more solidified. Stay tuned…

The cell phones are in the garbage – it’s e-mail and the internet phone number now.

Live long
Live well
Live slow

  1. Wonderful!! I am so happy to know you are finally on your way.
What an exciting life awaiting you there in Panama. I only hope to visit you some day.
Good friends, good food and fun. What more could one ask for?
    It’s Your Time,

  2. Hi Sherry,

We have been so on the go that I haven’t had a chance to thank you (at least) I don’t think I did – for taking the time from your complex job to be with us on that Sunday. We learned a lot from you and can only hope to learn more. It was a wonderful day and we really appreciated learning more about the CVP. Looking forward to more time with all of you. My hellos to Dr. Joe and Lynn and all of the folks at the office.
